How the Week Has Been

Something I am playing around with is writing a post at the end of each week that wraps up the week that was. I was thinking it could be the combo of a journal entry (or a ‘Now page’), and a collection of things I have enjoyed through the week. Let’s give it a go:
My Week:
One of the big changes in our life this week is successfully putting Sophia down to sleep at night from around 7 pm. Up until now, all her naps required her to sleep on us for them to work. But starting this week, Adina has been able to put her down before I get home in the evening. We had always been able to get her to sleep on her own from 11pm onwards, so this has been a great step forward. It’s meant we have a little more time to ourselves in the evening—though at times, it has actually felt weird, like something is missing.
The feedback on the first State of the Workflow episode has been really good overall. I got lots of lovely messages from people who told me they enjoyed the conversation with Austin, as well as some constructive suggestions from listeners on what they’d like to hear more or less of. I’m looking forward to evolving the format over the next episodes. I’m very close to nailing down the recording time with my guest for July, and I have a fun approach planned for that episode.
I’ve been working hard on a new Cortex Brand product that I hope we can do a limited test run of before the end of the year. It’s a new type of journal, and I’m loving the format. I think people will really get a kick out of it. I still have some tweaking to do on the page layout, and I always find it best to use the product myself for a while to iron out any issues.
I also destroyed my desk so I could effectively participate in a pretty fun collab project that Quinn Nelson put together. I look forward to sharing more on that soon!
What I Enjoyed This Week:
- I finally got around to watching Daredevil: Born Again. I really loved seeing these characters reprised — now officially in the MCU — and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I’m looking forward to Season 2.
- The F1 movie was an absolute blast. I wrote down some thoughts after seeing it this week.
- It’s been another wild week in geopolitics, and I found The Rest Is Politics episodes on Iran and Israel helpful in understanding the situation and staying up-to-date.
- Speaking of podcasts, I really enjoyed last week’s Mac Power Users episode, where Stephen did a deep dive into Ubiquiti. While I have no desire to change my network gear at the moment, it was helpful and interesting to hear what this system offers.
- We’re deep into finding children’s music that we can also enjoy, and this week Adina came across Raffi’s work. We particularly love “Down by the Bay” and “Apples and Bananas,” but the whole “Best of…” album is excellent.
- I’ve really enjoyed the series Brendon Bigley has been posting on his Instagram, where he reviews retro gaming stores in Tokyo.
Okay, that’s it for this week. I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on this format. Let me know!
