The Enthusiast Weekly – November 7, 2025
Hello! I am back from my week away — which, I will say, did not go to plan. A couple of days into last week, Sophia had her first fever. It was a bit of a stressful time for us all, but she’s totally fine and everything passed as normal. It did result in me getting a bad cold, which I’m still paying the price for now. So, we didn’t really get the chance to have the week we’d planned together, but I’m really happy I was at home to help the family through our first illness.
This week has been a fun one too, as Jason Snell has been in town to visit, and we’ve had the chance to spend a lot of good time together. It’s the first time in the five years of me having Mega Studio that I’ve had a co-worker here for multiple days at a time. As I’m typing this, he’s right over there working on something. I just took a look, actually, and he’s scrolling through his RSS feeds. I can’t make out exactly what he’s looking at — but maybe that’s for the best.
One of the highlights of the week was the two of us having dinner last night and spending over an hour talking about The Rest Is History. We both love that podcast, as it does such a great job of telling the stories of history. I feel like I learn so much from that show and feel better about the world — and my place in it — just because I understand a little more about what has come before.
In that regard, I want to make two specific recommendations this week from the show:
- Tom and Dominic recently wrapped up their series on the life of Nelson. It’s a fantastic look at the British naval hero — from the battles he won to the troubles in his personal life. Riveting the whole way through.
- They’re also just finishing up a few episodes about Walt Disney and Disneyland — a topic near and dear to my heart. They even published a video episode where Disney CEO Bob Iger(!) took them on a personal tour of Disneyland and the Walt Disney Studios lot.
A few years ago, I actually got to take a very similar tour of Walt Disney Studios, and it was an incredible time. It was fun for me to see Tom and Dominic walking through the same hallways and hearing the same history I did. That day was very special to me, and it was nice to be reminded of it.
Jason and I will be recording Upgrade next week in person — look out for that episode, whether you listen or watch along with us!
