The Enthusiast Weekly - September 26, 2025

September is almost over — and what a month it’s been. Busy season is underselling it.
My time in Memphis went great. It was wonderful to see so many friends, but the work was intense. I ended up spending about four days at St. Jude, including the 12 hours of the Podcastathon. It can be a lot to squeeze in regular work around all of that.
But once again, I’m overjoyed with the support our community has shown to St. Jude. This year we’ve raised over half a million dollars, bringing our all-time total to $4,600,000 since 2019. What a staggering number.
This year’s Podcastathon was the most fun I’ve had. The production team did an amazing job planning the event and challenges, and everyone rallied together to make it such a blast. There are plenty of highlights — so I recommend you watch it all — but don’t miss the last ten minutes.
Since getting home, I’ve felt a little like I’m just spinning my wheels. I’m still trying to adjust to balancing work and parenthood, and right now I don’t feel as effective as I want to be in any area of my life. That tells me something about how I see myself and manage my time. I need to start working through some of this. But maybe when September ends.
Aside from the Podcastathon, I have two things to bring to your attention this week:
- I always enjoy recording Upgrade in person with Jason — we tend to get a little silly. This week was no exception. I don’t always recommend the video version, but this time the experience is definitely enhanced (especially when Jason cracks open a cold one at inopportune moments). Beyond that, we also shared our first impressions of the new iPhones, with more to come.
- On my flight to the US I watched all of Dexter: Resurrection. I’ve been a fan of the original series (even though it fell off a cliff toward the end), and I loved the revival Dexter: New Blood. I’d hoped they would make more, and I was thrilled with this season. It’s basically a greatest hits run of the original show, with some fantastic cameos from surprising faces. I was riveted throughout and really hope they continue. I wouldn’t recommend watching this without having seen the earlier series first. But if you haven’t, you should.
Okay — baby duty calls. Have an awesome weekend.
