Why Are You Making Fun of Me? – Cortex Animated
For many years, we’ve been lucky to work with animator HM Boutet on a series of animated videos for Cortex. These videos originally started as something HM produced for their own YouTube channel, and we loved them so much that we commissioned them for the official podcast YouTube channel instead.
The most recent video is one of my all‑time favourites and is something they’ve been working on for a long time. It’s much longer and more complicated than a traditional video, so they’ve been chipping away at it off and on. It’s from State of the Apps 2024 where, at the beginning of what would become a very long recording, Grey and I got a little silly and teased each other over the way we set up our home screens. The animation work here is impeccable, and HM’s ability to shine a new light on the little quips we drop makes it even better. It’s so good.
