The Process of Investigative Reporting, With Jason Schreier
Myke talks to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg about the realities of reporting – how stories start, how sources are built, and how he balances fast-moving news with the slower, deeper work of writing books.
I spend a lot of my free time listening to podcasts about video game news. I enjoy the medium, but it’s also disconnected enough from what I talk about every week that I can just enjoy it.
If you pay any attention to gaming, you’ve likely come across some of Jason’s work. He’s a prolific reporter, interviewer, and news-breaker. I wanted to understand what it’s like to do the kind of reporting that he does, and I was surprised by the way he approaches it.
I’ve also really wanted to speak with an author, so it was great to hear how his approach to writing news overlaps with — and diverges from — his work on books.
